How to Use Both Halves of Your Brain

Your brain is cut into two halves. Each controls that half of the body. The left controls the left side of the body and the right controls the right side of the body. But, this is not all. Each side of the cortex also do very different things.

The Left Hemisphere of the brain -

  • Is used to understand languages
  • Is logical
  • Puts things in order
  • Development of physical skills. An example is when you wrestle and you have done an outside shot so many times that it is now hard wired to your brain.

The Right Hemisphere of the brain -

  • Is where you get your creativity
  • helps you multi task.

Those are the basics of the activity that each side of the brain executes.

Now learning to use both sides of the brain at the same time is an essential way to better your IQ. Using both sides of the brain can help speed up calculations in your brain and also help you boost your memory.

An example is when you are watching the news. A reporter might be telling you the news as you are shown pictures of the happening. You can later recall it when you want because this use of pictures and sounds appeals to both hemispheres of your brain.

To help you learn to more naturally use both sides of your brain you can use these two exercises.

  • Make yourself a Stroop Test (or use the one I have on the bottom) . In this exercise you do not read the word, but you say the color out loud.
  • Try writing with your opposite hand. (if you are a right handed person, write with your left). How does it feel?
